Volunteers are our most valuable resource. Their contribution, for the betterment of each community, is significant. Through their many volunteer hours we are able to reach out to support residents living in our smaller more isolated communities.

One of the core volunteer programs at RFCS is Frontenac Transportation Services (FTS). Between April 1 2016 to March 31 2017 our drivers have driven 6,141 drives, totaling over 748,000 km. This is an increase of 20,000 km over last year.   They volunteered over 18,400 hours behind the wheel. Our volunteers use their own vehicle to provide rides to those in need. These drives can be medical appointments, shopping or even visiting friends. Some of our drivers also drive for Meals on Wheels and Day Away programs for Community Support.

How Can You Get Involved?

  • Join a committee: The Seniors Community Advisory Network representing North and Central Frontenac or the Northern Rural Youth Partnership
  • Volunteer to drive for Meals on Wheels, the Adult Day Programs or Frontenac Transportation
  • Help at a special event
  • Assist in a program – youth afterschool, foot care clinic, reception or diners.

Just call 613-279-3151 to volunteer for our seniors or adult program, children, youth and family programs. Let us know what interests you.

2018 Volunteer of the Year Award

It can be very hard to pick one person out of all our volunteers to be the volunteer of the year, so for 2018 we picked two! Thank you to Lily Legacy-Zierer and Lou Cucoch for all of your efforts.
